FAQs

FAQ’s

How do I know if I need therapy?

If something is affecting your sleep, mood, work, studies or relationships for more than a few weeks, or you feel stuck, it is reasonable to talk to someone. You do not need a crisis or a diagnosis to start.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. What you share stays private, apart from rare exceptions such as serious risk to safety or a legal requirement. I will explain this clearly in the first session.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about what brought you here, your background and your goals. There is no pressure to share everything at once.

How long is a session, and how many will I need?

Sessions last about 45–50 minutes. The number you need depends on your concerns and goals, and we review progress regularly.

Do you offer online sessions?

Please ask about current online availability when you get in touch — online and in-person formats can be arranged to suit your needs.

What are your fees and cancellation policy?

Fees are shared on enquiry. Please give at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session.

Can you prescribe medication?

No. I am a clinical psychologist, not a psychiatrist. If medication might help, I can refer you to a psychiatrist and coordinate where appropriate.

Will my child's parents or school be told what they say in sessions?

I share only what is needed to help the child, and I explain this to both the child and parents at the start.

My teenager does not want to come. What can I do?

This is common. Encourage rather than force, and let them know the sessions are theirs to shape. A short first meeting often eases their worry.

Is therapy only for serious problems?

No. Many people come to build confidence, handle stress, improve relationships or understand themselves better.

What if I am in a crisis?

This website and my practice are not emergency services. Call Tele-MANAS at 14416, call 112, or go to the nearest hospital.

You are not alone. Let’s take the first step together.
